About Me
Victoria J. Warner, Phd.D, NBCT
The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be ignited. Plutarch
Hello and welcome to Dr. Warner's class website. I am currently teaching the Teaching Academy program and GRADS. The Teaching Academy is a junior/senior career technical tech prep program for students interested in pursuing a career in teaching. GRADS is a program for pregnant and parenting teens.
I graduated from Greenville High School in 1974and then received my Bachelors of Science in Vocational Consumer Homemaking from The Ohio State University in 1978. For the next seven years while my children were young I had my own cake decorating and candy making business before returning to education. In 1988 I graduated from Miami University with a Masters of Science in Child and Family Studies and my pre-k, kindergarten and elementary teaching certificates. I was child care coordinator of the Sunshine Child Care Center and taught the Careers in Children program (1989-1993)at Greenville and then moved to Miami Valley Career Technology Center from 1993-1995. Beginning in 1995 I went to The Ohio State University as a graduate research assistant on the Gender Equity project and pursued a doctorate program from the
College of Human Ecology. While pursuing my doctorate degree I was employed as a career-technical consultant at the Ohio Department of Education. I completed my doctoral program Human Development and Family Science in 2004 with a dissertation on the impact of performance-based assessments.
In 2006 I received my National Board Certification in Career-Technical and Adult Education.
My interests include sewing, quilting, crafts, gardening, reading, and throwing clay on the wheel. I love spending time with my family which includes my husband, also a teacher, three sons, three daughters-in-laws and four adorable grandchildren.
Thanks for visiting my website.
Who dares to teach must never cease to learn. ~John Cotton Dana
